Jump starting traffic with contests?

I just started a traffic exchange for bloggers - BlogMosh (http://www.blogmosh.com) - and I am trying to brainstorm some ideas for jump starting traffic to the site. I am thinking about using contests, so I have the following thoughts:

What types of contests can we run at BlogMosh to encourage more people to sign up and use BlogMosh?


Surf contests?


Referral contests?


Graphic design contests?


What are meaningful prizes?


Credits or cash? And how much cash or credits?



Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The ability to select what type of site their link will be posted on in return. ie. relevant.

Thanks Jade, but this is a traffic exchange, not a link exchange. But, we are working on categories, so surefers will only see the sites they are interested in.
