Some of us have a problem with buying more domains than we can possibly develop.:D I have let some lapse which were immediately picked up by someone else and/or I later thought of a good use for, so I really hate to let go of them. Lately I also see buyers willing to pay a premium for old domains, especially if they had indexed and ranked content.

So today I got busy and installed wordpress on 21 of my old domains. Someone who can program better than I could probably use scripts to do it faster. I find that any domain in which I had enough interest to register is easy to write one or two posts for. I will make a list with date of my last post on each one and revisit them occasionally to add new posts.

If I didn't have pages of my own to link from I would probably buy one of those vaultage packages with a few hundred low PR links and spread them around all the sites. In two or three years I will have good information about what search terms are used to find them and they will be well aged.

I will need to re-visit them to pretty them up and add useful templates, but I figure that this much is enough to at least get the game started.

Sort of like letting a fine wine or whisky age :)

I hear you with having more domains then you can handle. I have that same problem myself.

Is there one place to find old domains that have previously been indexed?

I do not understand what you are asking.

there are many places to find domains that have been indexed... they are called search engines ;)

I like the idea of using blogs as placeholders. I think if you can post to them once or twice a month and do some random linking between them, you should be in good shape.

Don't know about indexed, but odditysoftware.com shows you domains
that are deleted and deleting soon. You can see if they have backlinks from yahoo and msn.
Is this helpful at all?
