The situation is so nothing like "bloodless coup."
It's more like nothing at all.:p

I arrived in Malaysia the day of the coup and went to Thailand a few days later. We then had to travel through Hat Yai and Yala and I wasn't looking forward to all of that. The evidence of the coup was everywhere - all those military checkpoints that were now unmanned - phew!
I love the country and it sounds like a great thing that Thaksin is gone.
One observation - and probably due to Thaksin throwing money around for medical centres - was that the children seemed so much healthier than when I visited in '94. No cleft palates or club feet. Teeth all white rather than rotten stubbs.
We had a blast and I can't wait to get back!
