Now almost every blogger I know probably already uses FeedBurner (http://www.feedburner.com/), but for those who don't use it, here are a couple of reasons WHY you should sign up!
Here is a feed using FeedBurner (http://feeds.feedburner.com/modernseo) and here are the reasons:
It is simple and easy to read for your visitors
It lets readers subscribe to the feed using their favorite feed readers (like Google, Rojo and so on..)
You can modify your feed to display various different formats like RSS/ATOM/XML
You can choose whether all your stories are displayed or not
You get an easy URL which visitors and you can remember:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/modernseo
They supply you a headline animator, this will rotate your top 5 latest stories in an image like the one in my sig. I think that thing is REALLY cool and could bring in some subscribers to your blog.
An automatic pinging service which lets you ping a couple of the top feed services like Technorati
E-Mail Subscription Service which is completely handled by FeedBurner (If you want an example, check out the center sidebar on Modern SEO News (http://www.mdoernseo.com/) and you will see a box where you can input your E-Mail and get automatic updates from FeedBurner)
Subscriber Chicklet which displays how many people are subscribed to your blog like the one below (how many readers Modern SEO News has):
http://feeds.feedburner.com/%7Efc/modernseo?bg=818181&fg=FFFFFF&anim=1 (http://feeds.feedburner.com/%7Efc/modernseo?bg=818181&fg=FFFFFF&anim=1)
The interface for FeedBurner is pretty decent and it does give some good information about your subscribers.
Finally when Google indexes it, you get a few petty links from a 3rd-part feedIf there is anything else you guys can think of, let me know! Sorry for using links to Modern SEO News, but it was the best way to get my examples across
