Anyone use Mailing Lists?

Does anyone use mailing lists on their blogs to increase readership?

I recently start a mail list subscription form on 1 of my blogs and I'm getting a good flow of subscribers per day.

FeedBurner offers a pretty nice mailing service which is nice if you can get people to subscribe to it..
