At the right time to do the right thing is hard. I've just switched from blogger to wordpress and that has been one of the best moves ever. I normally blog when I see some good forum discussions, make a comment, and feel the need to expand a little bit further without wanting to bore those who are not interested to go into details. But most of the time the reason for blogging instead of posting is, that I want to own the content myself when I think I have something really good to say ;)

I also switched from Blogger to WordPress a while back and discovered the amazing flexibility it provides. If you are running on a Mac, I highly recommend that you download ecto, it makes the process of creating blog posts so much easier!

Also, check out my blog for some tips on overcoming blogger depress and other tips on blogging motivation.

Hey, great suggestion here FrogEngine. I never actually thought about expanding the discussion on my own blog.

I generally try to keep the discussion going on without adding useless stuff but sometime I feel the same urge to talk about the topic somewhere else or on the forum itself. By the way, you could always "advertise" your blog by adding a small comment like, "if you are interested in the topic, go to my blog [link] where I give more details about it"

Onto the "being inspired" aspect, I generally write only when I'm inspired. It's hard for me to start from scratch because I don't feel like writing anything generally. I need the extra push to start writing, especially if I want to write some good content.
